Official Instagram Hit 200,000 Followers Milestone

First Korean University to Reach 200,000 Followers, Maintaining Top Position

On February 23rd, our university's official Instagram surpassed 200,000 followers. This achievement marks a milestone as the first and foremost among universities in Korea and showcases the success of our university's innovative media strategy.


As of March 8th, Seoul National University, which ranked second in terms of domestic university official Instagram followers, had 196,000 followers, while Korea University, ranking third, had 163,000 followers. As of March 8th, our university stood as the only domestic university with over 200,000 followers, attesting to our university's high public preference and influence. Furthermore, our official English Instagram account (@yonsei_global) had crossed over 60,000 followers, enhancing our global competitiveness.


Our university utilizes various social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, blogs, and Facebook to disseminate diverse information including campus life, events, and research updates.

Among these efforts, the key to our university's ability to amass the highest number of SNS followers lies in 'collaborative content planning between students and the university.'

Yonsei Online Reporters Group, under the Media Center, produces content that captures the interest of university members and the public.


Stories like 'Unique Part-time Jobs of Yonsei Students,' 'OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) for Different Situations,' and 'Survival Guide in Songdo' are among the representative content that resonates with our university community. Particularly, the 'Yonsei Med School Students Review on Namuwiki' has garnered significant engagement, receiving over 170,000 'likes.'



In celebration of surpassing 200,000 followers, our university conducted a gratitude event from March 11th to March 17th. This event was planned to express sincere gratitude for the interest and affection towards our university.


The Media Center believes that utilizing social media for promotion is effective in enhancing our university's brand value and visibility, and that our university's distinct content will set a new paradigm for university promotion. They expressed their commitment to continue sharing our university's stories with a wider audience through various channels.
