Topping among Korean Universities in Business & Economics, Social Sciences, Clinical & Health, and Psychology
Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, topped the list of domestic universities in the most fields in the "THE World University Rankings by Subjects" announced on October 26 by the THE (The Times Higher Education), a global university evaluation agency in the United Kingdom.
The THE World University Rankings by Subjects are ranked every year in eleven subject fields, including "Arts & humanities," "Business & economics," "Education," "Law," "Social sciences," "Computer science," "Engineering," "Clinical & health," "Life sciences," "Physical sciences," and "Psychology. The evaluation is based on five indicators: ▲ Teaching (30%), ▲ Research (30%), ▲ Citations (30%), ▲ International outlook (7.5%), and ▲ Industry income (2.5%).
Yonsei University ranked first among Korean universities in four subjects: ▲ Business & economics (44th in the world), ▲ Social sciences (101st-125th in the world), ▲ Clinical & health (32nd in the world), and ▲ Psychology (126th-150th in the world). Seoul National University (three subjects) and KAIST (three subjects) followed Yonsei University.
Yonsei University ranked 73rd in the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings in June and 78th in the THE World University Rankings in October, making it ranked in the top 80 in both THE and QS rankings, the most trusted university evaluation agencies. Yonsei University, which has continued to break its record in the recently announced university evaluations, has also topped the list of domestic universities in four subject areas in the THE World University Rankings by Subjects, solidifying its position as the No. 1 private university in Korea.
Yonsei University plans to continue its upward trend by strengthening research competitiveness by discovering and attracting excellent researchers and supporting promising fields in the future and to continue to return Yonsei's education and research results to society under the value of "engagement."
