Korean Language Institute receives award for “Korean Language Education for Foreigners” category
The Korean Language Institute (KLI) at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea received the 2018 Korea Education Industrial Award under the “Korean Language Education for Foreigners” category. Jointly presented by The Korea Herald and The Herald Business, the award was given in recognition of KLI’s excellent educational services and significant contribution to the development of Korean language education for non-native speakers.
The Korean Language Institute was established at Yonsei University in 1959 as the first institute in Korea to provide intensive Korean language programs for foreigners and overseas Koreans, including students, missionaries, and diplomats. KLI plays a crucial role in introducing Korean language, culture and history, teaching over 9,000 students annually and over 150,000 students from 147 countries overall.
